Vintage Art Deco Blue Zircon Ring 18k Gold Palladium

This wonderful 18 karat gold and palladium blue Zircon ring is an ode to sweetness and beauty. A gleaming bright solitaire shines brilliantly from its perch atop a crown of white palladium, like pure crystaline water from a mountain spring. A lovely piece of art!

Although the band is 18k gold, the designer clearly wanted to surround the soft blue zircon with the freshness of white, thereby choosing palladium, which is more scratch resistant than white gold. In fact, during the 30’s and 40’s palladium was a popular metal for jewelry because of its strength and lightness. This lovely piece was made around 1930, and I particularly love that the innocent quality of the zircon is in subtle contrast with the geometrical Art Deco construction of its setting. The face of this elegant ring measures 6.3 x 17 mm, with a depth of 5.7 mm, and the band is 1.9 mm wide. It is marked with “18K” and “PALLADIUM.” It weighs 3.0 grams and is a size 6.75 US.
