Vintage Art Deco Sliver Enamel Swallow Brooch Pin

The Victorians loved all things romantic and sentimental and this definitely carried over well into the Art Deco era. Loaded with symbols of God, nature and love, the silver message brooch perhaps represent this heartfelt sentimentality in it’s purest form. This wonderful example was made in around 1930, and features a swallow in flight, representing a wish for safe return of a loved one. It has a beautifully detailed enamel body in multiple shades of blue while marcasites shimmer along the wings and tail, and a winking red paste for the eye. For its type, it’s a bit of a larger size, measuring 30.5 mm north to south and 56.3 mm across. It bears a Sterling mark on the reverse and weighs 10.5 grams.
