Vintage Deep Amethyst Ring in Gold

From the deepest of purple to the pale green variety, amethysts are my absolute favorite! Considered a cardinal gemstone until the 19th century, they were as valuable as diamonds, sapphires, rubies, and emeralds. For centuries, amethysts have adorned the heads and fingers of British and Russian royalty, as well as clergyman. I feel like royalty when I rock this retro cocktail ring and I know you will, too.

This vintage cocktail ring was handcrafted in 1962 London. It’s a retro stunner featuring an emerald-cut amethyst in a four-prong 9 karat gold setting. The stone measures 14 x 12.3 x 8.3 mm, weighing approximately 9.47 carats. The ring face measures 8.8 mm off the finger and the band width is 1.7 mm at the back. This piece is a size 7 US and weighs 4.5 grams. It has been fully hallmarked. It bears the gold purity marks, “9” and “375”, the date letter, “g”, and the London origin mark of a leopard’s head. The maker’s mark reads, “G.S.T.J”.

The Kent Demi-Parure is a set of royal jewels showcasing amethysts, originally owned by the Duchess of Kent, Queen Victoria’s mother. This breathtaking set of jewels consists of a necklace, a pair of earrings, three brooches, and a hair comb. You could be as stylish as the Queen with a ring like this.
