Vintage Gold Garnet Pearl Ring

Rings from the Retro Era mark a transition between the scarcities of the war years and stepping into the future and out of the past. Geometrics, shapes, and dramatic design highlight the typical aesthetic of this Pop Art genre. The use of colored gemstones was all the rage, like the bohemian garnets and the contrasting white pearls in this piece. This ring plays with symmetry and shape, it’s bold yet elegant. Jewelry was worn as a statement, encompassing glamour and modernity. It reflected mood and innovation. It was an exciting time for accessories, from 1935 through the 1950s. Inspiration stemmed out of the Art Deco period and infused with wartime ideas – such as the shape of tank treads or assembly lines.

This vintage garnet and pearl ring was handcrafted in America during the 1950’s. It was crafted in 14 karat gold and features 4 creamy white pearls bordered by 14 deep red garnets. Each of the pearls measure 2.7 mm in diameter while each of the garnets measures 2.5 mm in diameter. The rectangular ring face measures 8.8 x 15.8 x 4.3 mm off the finger and the band width is 2.2 mm at the back. This ring is a size 6.3 US and it weighs 2.9 grams. It bears the gold purity mark, “585”.

I feel a bit of an early Mad Men vibe with this ring. It’s understated but striking and I know you’re going to fall head over heels.
