Vintage Green Cushion Cut Diamond Cluster Halo Ring

This ring is a bit of an enigma, but I fell easily under the spell of it’s multitude of charms. The first thing you notice about this beauty is the stunning center diamond. It’s a champagne color under indoor light, but it changes to a fiery chartreuse outside in sunlight and runs to gold, whiskey and bright yellow in between. I’m certain that this has to do with the fluorescence of the stone. The jeweler who built this ring worked hard to match up a halo of equally colorful stones to match.

This ring features fantastic old European cushion cut stones, the center stone measures 5.4 x 5.4 x 4.2 mm and weighs approximately .9 carats, the 8 surrounding stones weigh approximately .18 carats each, a total weight of about 2.35 carats in diamonds in this ring altogether. The ring has the hallmark for Poland and a style of mark that was used after 1963. However, I feel pretty strongly that this ring pre-dates it’s post-1963 hallmark. These old cut diamonds and the way that this ring is made, the way the stones are set and the motif all point to a much earlier ring. Sometimes when rings are re-sized, re-shanked or even re-sold, they have to be re-assayed. I do believe that this ring dates to about 1900 but was assayed at some later date. This ring has a wonderful motif, the sides are beautifully carved. This ring is large and scale and while it might be able to be re-sized a little bit, it would look best on a larger hand, the current size is a 10 US. The ring weighs 7.9 grams. The mark indicates and acid testing confirms that this ring is crafted in 18 karat gold.

This wonderful ring flashes out giant sparks of light in what ever color it happens to be, so when you wear it outside in daylight the flashes are bright green with teal, when you wear it indoors they are a rich golden kissed with brown. It would make a fantastic engagement or wedding ring for the enigma in your life.
