Vintage Padparadscha Sapphire Diamond Target Ring French

The rich, peachy-orange hue of the sapphire which centers this ring has earned it the name ‘padparadscha’, a word which finds its origins in Sanskrit, the ancient language of India. It is derived from the word for Lotus Blossom and both are supreme examples of Nature in all her Glory.

This fantastic target style ring was hand crafted in France in about 1950, although it has a decidedly Art Deco feel. It is set with a natural 1.0 carat padparadscha sapphire in a gorgeous orange/peach tone, the stone measures 7.4 x 5.4 x 3.12 mm and is an oval faceted cut. Surrounding the lively sapphire are two ornate frames of diamonds, forty-six in all, which are VS1-2 in clarity and E-F color and add up to approximately .6 carats in total. The ring is made of 18 karat gold with a platinum top, rectangular in shape with dipped corners and a flower-petal like gallery underneath. the face of the ring measures 17.2 mm north to south and 14.2 mm across, it sits 3.7 mm off the finger and narrows to 2 mm at the back of the band. This ring is hallmarked on the outside of the band with the French eagles head mark, (French 18k hallmark) and a French makers mark.

This size 6 ring weighs 4.7 grams. We’d be happy to re-size it to suit at no additional charge. This ring comes with a full appraisal done by an independent Master Gemologist, the fully appraised value is $7,599.00.
