Vintage Silver Amber Mid-Century Ring

The Ancient Greek historian, Nicias, believed that amber was made of drops of sweat formed on the earth as the sun set beneath the waves. Amber, like the stone on this pendant, is known for its glowing resinous luster. It forms from the hardened resin of ancient trees and can contain early plants or insects. This particular piece of resin is free of organic life and is a beautiful deep orange color, like a morning sunrise.

This vintage silver ring features a fiery amber stone, oval and cabochon cut, at the center of a retro setting. The stone measures 18.2 x 13 x 11 mm in size while the ring face measures 26 x 22 x 14.2 mm off the finger. This ring is a size 8 and weighs 6.5 grams. It bears a hallmark with the letter “w” and the number “3” with a woman’s face in profile facing right at the center. It also bears the Warsaw Polish mark for 800 silver. This ring was made around 1970.

There’s no arguing the power of the addictiveness of amber, it’s truly nature’s treasure and it belongs around your finger.
