Vintage Silver Camel Ring Figural

Jewelry trends of the 1970’s were driven by counterculture. Think Woodstock, rock music, and protests. For the first time, youth culture was driving fashion, not the other way around. Unconventional designs and style were popular as it rebelled against the norm, blending into the progressive mood of the era.

Clothing became more tailored as the decade came to a close, but the colors were bold, the pants were flared, and the prints were loud. Jewelry not only had to match, but also surpass, this trend. Between bright gemstones, thick chains, and long beaded necklaces, jewelry did a very successful job in standing out. Animal jewelry was no exception. David Webb made animal cuffs popular and rings like this were prevalent.

This amazing silver camel ring was handcrafted in the 1970’s. It’s a size 8.25 ring with the ring face measuring 10.3 x 23.7 x 14.2 mm off the finger. The band width is .8 mm at the back. This vintage piece features a dromedary camel with its adorable head leaning back. It bears the mark, “SILVER”.

The 1970’s was a reigning time for the Youth Culture. Being bold meant blending in. Fun chunky pieces like this ring were just the thing to wear.
