Vintage Silver Frame Ring Hallmarked 1934

The thing about lockets is they become yours. They hold your photographs. They keep your secrets. They know your meaning. Lockets appeared in Europe in the 1500’s holding hair, scents, or tiny love letters. The popularity of lockets spread to the middle class where they were given as a gift within a gift, with a painted portrait of a lover’s eye, a small note, or even a tightly folded note of currency, tucked clandestinely inside. To wear an image that makes the heart beat faster, right there on the finger, now that’s a thing to behold.

This vintage silver locket ring was handcrafted in London in 1934. It’s a size 6.5 ring and it weighs 3.6 grams. It features an elongated octagon silver frame that opens so you can place your favorite photograph inside and carry it around everywhere you go. The ring face measures 17 x 14.5 x 3 mm off the finger and the band width is 2 mm at the back. It bears the lion mark for English sterling silver, the leopard mark for London, the date letter, “t”, and the maker’s mark, “J B M”. It’s also marked, “PAT No 410245” and “Ro 784538”.

This vintage locket ring looks fabulous with or without a picture inside. It’s a beautiful piece and its ready to be worn with all your favorite ensembles.
