This ring was a bit of a mystery, but I think I’ve got it solved! It’s a beauty, set in the center with a 1 carat bright moonstone with great adularescence and a lovely blue hue; around the cabochon center stone are set with 8 pearls in shades of brown and gray, they are 2.7 mm in diameter. The top of this ring is made in 18 karat gold and the split shank is in 14 karat gold. I believe that this ring started life off as something else, most likely a stick pin or part of a brooch, made in about 1880, but it has been more recently made over as a ring. The ring is lovely and well made, it measures 11 mm north to south and 11 mm across, it sits 8 mm off the finger and narrows to 3 mm at the back of the band. This ring is a size 5.5 and weighs 5 grams. It’s marked with the French export mark of the shell and has been carefully acid tested.

I was wandering New Bond Street, with an Everbean coffee in hand, and frosted gluten free coffee cake in the other. I was enjoying the early morning briskness as I waltzed in to one of my favorite hidden gems of an antique store. After trying on too many tweed jackets from the 70’s, and shopping the shoe section for far too long (the brown leather go-go boots were to die for), the owner pulled out a silk drawstring bag. Between your basic gold bands, a silver bauble or two, and a few loose garnets, was this stunner. I slipped it on and wore it for the next week. I had to test it out before selling it to you, I am a professional, after all.
This antique Edwardian ring was handcrafted in England around 1910. It showcases a lively display of three opals patterned with four diamonds set in 18 karat gold. Each of the opals are cabochon cut, with the center stone measuring 5.3 x 4.3 x 1.5 mm. The diamonds are each rose cuts and measure about 1 mm in diameter. The ring face measures 7.6 x 16 x 3.5 mm off the finger and the band with is 1.7 mm at the back. It weighs 2.4 grams and is a size 6.75. It bears the gold purity mark, “18” and the anchor mark indicating it was made in Birmingham, England.
Opal ring goes great with coffee, lunch dates, occasions with frilly dresses, and of course, simple white fitted t-shirts topped off with a smile.

I was strolling through the narrow cobblestoned streets just north of Paris, in a small town not used to strangers. I found a sandwich shop and in my best broken French ordered ‘un sandwich avec jambon et fromage’ and a glass of Rosé. The man I ordered from was kind, he moved slowly, enjoying the summer’s heat. The small patio overlooked a valley of clay roofed houses and intertwining streets. I found a table and sat. As I held onto the stem of the clear glass, my bracelet caught the sun’s light, making it glow like a cave of wonders. I sipped the wine, tasting the notes of strawberry and basil, letting the flavors linger on my tongue. I noticed how my wrist looked like the sun itself, giving life to earth, making the heavens envious. I also noticed the view and the toughness of my baguette sandwich, and how the wine gave tastes to the bread that could only be found here, right here, in this place, in this moment.

She vaguely heard the front door of the manor house open and close and briefly wondered who had come. Someone to see her father, no doubt. Moments later her door opened and the housekeeper handed her a small, round bouquet of flowers set on a silver plate. A tussie-mussie, she thought, delighted. There was no note, no indication of where it had come from, just the flowers. She looked at them closely, she knew the language of the flowers, as any Victorian lady would; there were roses for love and chamomile for patience, forget-me-not for hope and remembrance, and hidden within were pansies, whose message was one of secret devotion. When she saw the pansies tucked away inside she smiled, she didn’t need a card to know the exact gentleman who had sent her this, and joy bubbled up from her toes. Years later he gave her this locket, a secret nod to that shared, hidden moment when she had first known that she loved him.
This fantastic locket was hand crafted in 18 karat gold in about 1880, most likely in France. It is set with 8 (probably natural) pearls with a rich creamy luster and a touch of a gray hue. The locket is done in gold kissed with a rosy hue, the pearls are set in silver and the wonderful pansy flower is beautifully engraved and finished. The interior of this locket has a double sided, bezeled glass center that hinges freely to see both sides, so that you can set two photos into the center glass. This mechanism and the finish on the pansy make me think that this locket was made in France, it also has a French diamond shaped makers mark, but not French assay marks. It’s an exquisitely made piece that is a perfect, wearable locket size (not too big, not too small) at 51 mm top to bottom including the bale and 28.5 mm across, it weighs 20.2 grams. This locket has been acid tested to verify the gold content.
This wonderful pansy locket would be the perfect gift of love, secret or not.

Ivy clings, it grows along walls, over stones, up trees, and inches toward the sky, forming a unity with its sturdy base. Jewelry with an ivy motif was given as a representation of fidelity, friendship and eternity during the 1800s. In Britain, ivy was called, “lovestone”, named for the way it clung to stone walls.
These antique French ivy leaf gold earrings were handcrafted around 1890 in 18 karat gold. Each drop earring features a round creamy white pearl at the top with a long drop link chain that leads to an ivy leaf shaped drop dotted with another round pearl. A rose cut diamond can be found at the very top of each earring, adding glimmer to an elegant pair of earrings. Each earring measures 42 x 11 mm and together they weigh 2.1 grams. They bear the eagle head hallmark, indicating they are made in 18 karat gold and they were essayed in Paris.
These earrings have a back to front closure which works just as it sounds. The earring goes through the ear from behind and clips in the front. They are extremely comfortable to wear, but it can take a little time getting used to putting them on. The key is to wiggle the earring instead of trying to just push it through. Don't be surprised if you get hooked on this style of closure once you get used to it!

She was at the edge of her porch watching as couples walked by, with their hot lattes in hand, while the crisp autumn leaves flutter down from tree branches. She tugged at her pendant with the pumpkin colored stone that dangled from her neck, and made a mental note to call her mom later, just because. That scent of apple cider and sugar was beginning to blanket the ground, and she pulled her wool sweater a little tighter as the wind brushed past her cheeks.
This vintage Austrian Arts and Crafts silver and carnelian pendant was handcrafted around 1920. This lovely pendant features a floral motif with an oval burnt orange carnelian at the center. He was walking through the shops, searching for something that looked like her. In a small storefront, at garden level, he spotted a stone like no other he’d seen. A hidden gem, a needle in a haystack, that four-leaf clover in a field of daisies. It looked like a blanket of snow over a mountain, each snowflake with its own colorful fire burning, lighting up beneath the sun. It looked like a sunset in Malibu, over the ocean in the West, with rainbow skies and salty air. It looked like her, beautiful at every angle, timeless and everything he was searching for.
This antique Edwardian opal solitaire ring was handcrafted in Chester, England, 1910. It features an elegant white opal which has been oval cabochon cut and measures 14 x 10 x 4.3 mm. She was at her table, with her coffee, reading a book. One hand turned the page while the other subconsciously twirled her hair. The ring on the twirling hand refracted rainbow shades all around her, onto the walls and the coffee cups of strangers. Those diamonds, they sang with the light, sending dancing color off into the atmosphere like fairies in a tale.

She was in a white sundress running and ducking around a vineyard as he, in his jacket and tie, chased after her. It was their anniversary, and not much had changed in the way of the firelight in their eyes when they looked at each other. She hid behind an old windmill that creaked in the wind, standing tall in the middle of the field. He jumped out and surprised her, making her laugh until she cried. As they walked back to the main house, hand in hand, she took a picture of the windmill, its blue paint was fading and the wooden blades were rickety. The photo would go in her locket that was strung around her neck - a beautiful afternoon she could take with her and remember anytime she wanted.

The four old European cut diamonds weigh approximately .1 carats each for .4 carats total. I was taken in by the beguiling gem at the heart of this fabulous solitaire ring. It shimmers and sparkles with every move of the hand. The color changes from richest orange to salmon pink and back again depending on the light of the day.
This hand crafted estate ring is fully hallmarked and was made in Birmingham, England in 2006, practically a baby by my standards! The lovely setting has two little leaves on either side of the four prong mounted stone. The stone itself measures 9.1x7.2x5.4 mm and weighs approximately 2.85 carats. This is a wonderfully clean stone with just one small feather inclusion visible with magnification. The ring is marked with the marks for Birmingham, England, 2006, and 18 karat (white) gold. The ring is a size 6.25 US and could be re-sized to suit.
This bright and lively ring would make a stunning engagement ring for anyone looking for an alternative to a diamond.

She woke up to a rustic, metallic autumn morning. Coffee. It's always time for more coffee. And a good book. Coffee and Hemingway.
Sigh. It's the simple things.
Walking her chocolate lab, Minnie. Jumping with her galoshes in crunchy piles of orange and brown leaves. Watching the cloud shapes morph as they pass over the lake. More coffee.
And rings like this one. Solid, simple, sparkling in the autumn morning sun. Flashing with each throw of a beloved tennis ball.
This Victorian 18k gold diamond buckle ring was handcrafted in Birmingham, England in 1873. There are two old cut diamonds adorning this ring, totaling .3 carats total weight. Inside the shank there are various hallmarks-a crown (England), the number 18 (gold), and anchor (Birmingham), the letter y (1875), and a maker's mark that reads, 'CyBs’, for the goldsmith firm of Coley Brothers. The band is 6.5 mm wide, and 1.5 mm thick. This piece has been professionally acid tested to ensure 18k gold. This ring is a size 8 and weighs 9.3 grams.

I was reading an article the other day reported on studies done in Finland which show that love and happiness make you physically warm. If that's true, then just think of all the money you'll save on heat with this fabulous Fire Opal on your finger to keep you happy. I freely admit to being just a little bit in love with this fiery beauty. Yup, warm all over!
This Edwardian stunner was hand-crafted in 18 karat gold with diamonds set in sterling silver. The Fire Opal is an oval faceted natural gem which measures 9.7 mm from North to South and 8.2 mm across and is 6 mm deep; its approximate weight is 2 carats. The stone is very clean and clear for a fire opal with some very tiny surface abrasions only visible under magnification. The rich candy-orange kissed with red opal is complemented by its contrasting halo of old European cut diamonds. The 12 diamonds measure on average 3 mm across and 2 mm deep and weigh .15 carats, for about 1.5 carats of total diamond weight. The diamonds are very bright, white and well color matched; they are clean stones with small to medium sized culets. The ring is currently a size 7.25 but could be resized up or down to suit by a skilled jeweler, it weighs 3.5 grams. The ring is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested to verify content. Made in Europe in about 1910.
Why this ring? Because... baby, it's cold outside!

She was dressed in blue velvet, the giant feather in her hat seemed to float above her as she stood by the rail overlooking Lake Como. It was their honeymoon and she’d couldn’t ever remember being happier. Her husband slip up beside her and took her hand. He placed a shiny wide band of gold on her finger, she looked down and saw little hearts encircling her finger, and her heart melted just a little bit more.
Hand crafted in 1907, this amazing rose gold band has been worn a bit smooth by its wearers down the ages but you can still clearly see the hearts and leaves that decorate it. The ring is fully hallmarked with marks showing that it was made in Birmingham, England in 1907 of 9 karat gold by the maker ‘CYBS’. The ring measures 7.4 mm from north to south and is 1.4 mm thick, it weighs 3.9 grams.

I have this video that I keep on my phone. I’ve been looking at it a lot lately as the temperatures outside have been hanging out on the south side of the zero. I took it last summer, on one of those misty, orange, purple and blue sunsets, in it you can hear a cacophony of bird song and even see a few flitting across the screen. It makes me hopeful. Just like this wonderful pendant, lush and verdant and hopeful.
This fantastic hand crafted perfume bottle was made in a time when things weren’t packaged in single use plastics, a time when you took your tiny pendant to the apothecary and they filled it with your chosen scent (or maybe the only one that they had), then you attached it to your chatelaine and you applied it liberally, because you probably only got one bath a week on a good week!
The inside is fully lined in glass and it has its original glass stopper that’s faceted on top. The inside is washed in gold. This cylindrical pendant measures 59.5 mm from top to bottom and 15.5 mm in diameter, it weighs 18.8 grams. Made in France in the Art Nouveau style in about 1890.
This wonderful tiny silver French bottle is repoussed with a full scene of two beautifully detailed birds on a blackberry bush, they seem interested in a little bee that’s bumbling by, maybe they think it looks like a tasty meal? It’s exquisite. Truly.

My husband, as you might imagine, has a rather nice collection of rings. I always notice when he puts one on, a signet, a puzzle, a snake. I find them all rather sexy and I love to imagine him looking through his jewels and deciding which one to rock.
This Victorian double snake ring is scaled for a man, although it would be equally wonderful on a woman, I personally like to wear a serpent on my thumb. The ring is hand crafted in 18 karat gold, each of the smooth snakes wrapping around and around and around, each set with tiny little diamond eyes. This ring has a full set of hallmarks which say it was made in London, England in 1900 of 18 karat gold by the maker who’s mark is ‘WJH’. The ring measures 12 mm from north to south at the widest part and 7.7 mm north to south at the narrowest part, please take into account that this wide ring will fit a bit more snuggly than a thinner band of the same size, so while it’s a 10.5 in size, it will fit more like a 10. This ring weighs 9.9 grams.
