I wonder if zircon is really a girl’s best friend. Scientifically, it has one of the liveliest displays of sparkle, putting even diamonds to shame. The oldest zircon stones clock in at 4.4 billion years old. According to my calculations, that’s just half a billion years shy of the age of the earth. A few hundred years ago, during the Middle Ages, zircon was thought to aid in restful sleep, and bring wisdom and honor the wearer. I’ve been wearing this rock all week and I can tell you I’ve never slept better. Coincidence? I think not. A little sparkle can go a long way.
This Art Deco ring was handcrafted in Europe around 1920. It’s a sparkling vintage piece featuring a burnt orange-brown zircon at the center flanked by six diamonds with three on either side. The stones are platinum set over 18 karat yellow gold. The word ‘zircon’ most likely stems from the Persian word, ‘zargun’ meaning “gold-colored”. This round zircon measures 8.7 x 8.9 x 6 mm and weighs approximately 3.89 carats. There are two old European cut diamonds with four brilliant cut diamonds, weighing an approximate total of .22 carats. The ring face measures 8.6 x 16 x 7 mm off the finger and the band width is 2 mm at the back. This piece bears the gold purity mark, “18ct” and the platinum mark, “PLAT”. This ring weighs 3.8 grams and is a size 6.5.
Wear fireworks on your finger with this fiery solitaire ring! This piece would make a brilliant engagement or even anniversary ring.
A note from Victoria: Zircons are susceptible to color change from strong UV light and extreme temperature, so be cautious and don’t wear your zircon in a tanning booth or to get a gel manicure, make sure that it you get work done on your ring you tell the jeweler that the stone can’t take heat.

I’ve often felt that there’s mystery in a jade stone. In Mandarin, “jade” (yu) refers to a fine, beautiful stone with a warm color and rich luster. In Chinese culture, jade symbolizes nobility, perfection, and immortality. It’s known as the “imperial gem” as it was worn by the most wealthy and influential members of society. It has been mined and used in jewelry for royalty since the Neolithic period. It’s a fascinating stone as it’s an intimate part of the lives of Chinese of all ranks and classes.
This beautiful gold jade ring was handcrafted around 1920. This oval stunner is a Chinese piece, crafted in 14 karat gold. The ring face measures 20.2 x 17 x 6.7 mm off the finger and the band width is 2.6 mm at the back. This size 6 US ring weighs 5.5 grams and has been acid tested. It bears Chinese import marks and has a maker’s mark, “KW”.
Take your style game up a notch with this dazzling jade ring. It’s the ultimate as far as accessories go. It’s traveled the world and back again and is still taking breaths away.

You know how every once in a while a color that you really love will come into fashion and you just have to buy every sweater and jacket and tee that you can while that color is hot because you know that it might not come around again for a while? Well, this is my color. Not turquoise blue, Zircon blue. The color of my favorite cashmere sweater, the color of the water off St. Barth's on a clear sunny day.
I love a Blue Zircon, any blue zircon, but I fell especially hard for this stunning Art Deco example. Highly refractive, like diamonds, blue zircons are one of the most sparkly of gems, a color so bright and rich it makes you reach for your sunglasses. Set in platinum, and supported by four old European cut diamonds, this vintage ring likely dates to about 1920. The zircon measures 10.5 x 7.3 x 5.4 mm and weighs about 4.8 carats, the four diamonds have a total carat weight of .4 carats. The face of this ring measures 11.2 mm north to south and 20 mm across, it sits 6 mm off the finger. This wonderful ring is a size 9 weighs 2.4 grams.
If you are looking for that special 'something blue' for your wedding day, look no further, this instant heirloom is sure to have a special place on the fingers of brides in your family for generations to come.
A note from Victoria: Zircons are susceptible to color change from strong UV light and extreme temperature, so be caution and don’t wear your zircon in a tanning booth or to get a gel manicure, make sure that it you get work done on your ring you tell the jeweler that the stone can’t take heat.

It was a beautiful sort of day, with bright sun and green grass. She stepped out for the day, to meet him in the park for lunch. She wore an olive shift dress with bobbed hair and a decorated headband, fitting for a summertime afternoon. Her lips were done in a cupid’s bow, applied with cherry lipstick. He was already there, dressed handsomely, as always, in his suit jacket and trilby hat. He smiled at her as the sun’s rays stretched across his face, illuminating his blue eyes. He stood beneath a willow tree, and watched as she approached. He had planned on waiting until after their picnic but he decided that right now was the time, so he bent down on one knee. Her hands flew to her cheeks in surprise, as he asked for her hand with this dazzling diamond ring.
This stunning vintage diamond ring features 23 sparkling diamonds totaling 1.4 carats. It was handcrafted in the early 1920s in 18 karat gold with engraved flowers on the shoulders. The diamonds are platinum set and reflect every color of the rainbow, allowing your finger to be the star of every room. The old European marquise cut diamond is 6.8 x 4.2mm and weighs about .28 carats. The marquise is enhanced by old cut round diamonds, which are accented by smaller full and single-cut diamonds. All of the diamonds have nice color and clarity, with a 10x loupe. The face is a pretty oblong shape which measures 26 mm north to south and 15.9 across and sits 5.9 mm off the finger. There are no marks, and it has been acid tested. This ring is a size 6.5 and weighs 7.8 grams.
I cannot get over the sparkle this ring holds. I took it outside just the other day, so I could attempt to capture the glitter with a camera. This ring would make a unique engagement ring and an instant heirloom!

She was walking down the street the other day in boots with boyfriend jeans and a simple white fitted tee. Her hair was messy in a bun and she was listening to something through her headphones. She had an iced coffee in one hand, and a bag in the other hand, with a ring on her finger, a ring that could stop a room, stop a war, warm hearts, make flowers bloom. It had power. It had grace. She knew it, too. She pretended she didn’t, but she had to have known it. It was a showstopper.

The sky was a deep violet with pops of starlight scattered within it, like sugar crystals spilling onto a picnic blanket. Slowly, as they sat there, on the edge of the pier overlooking the lake, the sky turned into pink, taking the glow of the stars with it. It changed to yellow, as the sun peaked over the horizon, and they made hot cocoa by the campfire. She wore a ring on her finger, with a gemstone, and with love. It was this time last year, right here, just like this, when he asked and she said yes.

Her curtains were pulled aside, revealing a black night sky, without a star or moon in sight. The wind was heard but she was busy, writing, passionately creating a story of mythical creatures and happy endings. The flicker of candlelight emanated from the tall dark red candlesticks burning in the corner. The flame’s light hit the ring on her right hand, the hand scribbling wildly with a feather quill on thick parchment. The ring glowed as though she had the sun hidden somewhere inside of it. Her content ginger cat sat on the edge of her oak desk, watching the specks of light that jumped from the prismatic opals on her ring to the darkened walls of the library, like a kaleidoscope.
This vintage English Art Deco ring was handcrafted in London, in 1925. There are five luminescent round cabochon opals set on a square face. Daisy Buchanan would wear this super comfortable ring, after all it has her namesake set in stones, not to mention it goes as nicely with champagne today as it did back then.
Every once in a while I come across a really exceptionally piece of marcasite jewelry. A piece that has been truly hand made as fine jewelry. Usually these pieces date to the 1920s and 30s. Here is such a piece, a gorgeous example of the largess and glitter that lit up the Jazz Age.
This vintage Art Deco onyx and marcasite ring was handcrafted around 1925. The face features a blooming daisy with a rich cabochon onyx center and petals decorated in faceted marcasite stones. The daisy sits next to a sleeping rose, fully articulated in silver and smothered in even more sparkling faceted marcasites; all set in silver on a 9 karat gold band. The ring face measures 27 mm north to south, 19 mm across and sits 4.5 mm deep. This ring is a size 8 and could be re-sized somewhat to suit, it weighs 8.4 grams. Some pieces I buy on a pure, girly, bubble gum, princess fantasy level. Because, let’s face it, sometimes a girl just needs something sparkly and fabulous to get her through the day. Dropping off the kids, picking up the kids, doing load after load of laundry, feeding the dog (because does anyone else remember to feed the dog?); these things are all made a little bit easier when a girl’s got a good manicure and a ring like this on her finger. It’s equally excellent for romantic dates with the hubs, cocktails on Thirsty Thursday with the ladies, and if you’re so inclined, this one would be quite at home at the Academy Ball, dancing through the halls of the Bellevue in a frosty ball gown.
This early Art Deco beauty was hand crafted in platinum in about 1915. The star of the show is a gorgeous sugarloaf cut of velvety sapphire in the most amazing bright blue hue. This rich, gorgeous stone has been graded by AGL as a natural, unheated stone which is Cambodian in origin and weighs approximately 6.35 carats. The sapphire is surrounded by 48 mine cut and early single cut diamonds of E-G color and VS1-I1 clarity which add up to 1.3 carats in total weight, stones that wink and sparkle with every move you make. The ring is a size 8.25 and could be sized to suit. It weighs 7.8 grams.
Not a simple bauble, but a once-in-a-lifetime, you’ve-been-a-very-good-girl kind of ring. This ring comes with an AGL certification on the stone and a full appraisal by a GIA Master Gemologist. The insurance replacement value of this ring is $45,000 USD.

The French certainly have a way with the world. Baguettes, champagne, castles, Coco Chanel...the list goes on and on. Et les bijoux, c’est à mourir. The plein de vie in this eternity band also goes on and on. It’s spectacular. It’s simplistic. It’s too good to be true. Well, almost, anyway.

Walking through the old diamond district in Antwerp is sublime torture. First you must pass the Del Rey chocolate shop. The chocolate at Del Rey is one of the true wonders of the world. I would bring some home for you, but there is really no point. It is so delicate that it must be eaten within a day, it is truly the most amazing thing I have ever put in my mouth, every piece is a little work of art, and the melting temperature is so perfect that in the time it takes to pick it up and put it in your mouth it begins to soften, the moment it hits your tongue it melts into sheer perfection. Honestly people, it's worth a visit for the chocolate alone. But it doesn't end there. If you make it past Del Rey, you'll be faced with an entire street of jewelry shops, one after another after another, some sell old jewelry, some new, some shop windows simply display gems, diamond in tiny clear boxes, or set on little plastic prongs, spinning away on mirrored turntables. All whilst the smell of chocolate and waffles floats on the air. A true cornucopia for the senses.
Luckily I know just the man to see, and me and my small (well, smallish, whaddya want?) bag of chocolate make our way about half way down the block to a yellow storefront with a green flag hanging out front, the sign above the door promises "Antieke Juwelen". Before I go in I check the four front windows to see if anything catches my eye. It doesn't take long for my eye to fall upon this ring. Oh, so sparkly under the halogen lights, this one was almost literally blinking at me. I admit it, I was caught in it's diamondy web.
Set in platinum (marked both PLAT an 950pt), two wonderfully bright old European mine cut diamonds twinkle and glow. They are equal in size, each is 4.6 mm across and 3.5 mm deep and weighs about .45 carats. They appear clean even with a 10x jewelers loupe and are bright white, drawing color equally from the full spectrum and sending out flashes of brilliance in all colors. The diamonds are surrounded by a modified fleur-de-lis motif and the ring is set with an additional .25 carats of old mine cut diamonds. The total diamond weight is about 1.15 carats. The ring weighs 4.4 grams.
Made in Europe, maybe even in Belgium, in about 1920, this utterly fabulous Art Deco ring would make a fantastic and unusual engagement or right hand ring. Oh, and it goes really well with chocolate, this much I know. Yum!

I stood on the balcony of a house in London, some might call it a mansion, some wouldn’t know the difference. The sky was blue, like in the movies. The air was crisp and sweet with a breeze that tickled the hairs on my arms. I held my soda water with a lemon in one hand, looking down at my fellow company, resting my other hand on the black railing. She yelled up to me, from below.
“That ring is blinding me, Victoria! Turn it off.” I laughed but refused to move. I was comfortable in the heat of the day, admiring the rocks on my finger.
“I wouldn’t if I could, my love.”
“Who knew the sun had competition?”
“Darling, I did.”

They were playing scrabble in the middle of her living room floor. He was winning, as usual. She didn’t have the patience for board games but she did have a competitive edge, and wanted to make a comeback. Her determination showed on her face and in the increased pace of her pretzel eating. He laughed as she carefully plotted out words on a piece of paper that she kept hidden behind her hand. It took her a moment to realize that he wasn’t really playing after all. He smiled at her as her game face turned into shock, and then a grin as wide as the horizon. While she was figuring out high point words, he had spelled, “Will you marry me?” and set a ring of diamonds in the center of the board.
This beautifully crafted white gold eternity band features 18 brilliant-cut round diamonds. It’s a glittery piece that was made in Europe around 1920. There’s something about these vintage pieces that makes me think of Gatsby and all his ladies. This engraved band is a size 7 US and weighs 2.6 grams. It bears the gold purity mark, “18ct” indicating it was made in 18 karat white gold. Each of the diamonds measures 1.5 mm in diameter and 1 mm in depth, weighing a total of approximately .18 carats. The depth of the ring measures 2.0 mm off the finger and the band width is 2.6 mm all the way around.
A ring like this is a beautiful thing. The glitter. The style. The sentiments of love. But there’s also history in an antique ring, it was made for a loved one, it was made to last forever.

A diamond is carbon, very specific and well-organized carbon. It’s pressurized and heated for a billion years, buried hundreds of miles beneath the grassy meadows and birch tree forests of the Earth’s surface. A deep-source volcanic eruption tears a piece of the mantle, where this carbon sits, and carries it toward the surface. It cools. We discover it, we cut it, we polish it. Then it deservingly gets adorned onto a gold ring that somebody very lucky will wear while sipping rose petal tea, as the stones, like the ones on this ring, which are full of history and rareness, glisten in the daylight.
This vintage Art Deco gold diamond ring was handcrafted in London, 1927. The geometric ring face boasts 6 old European cut diamonds set in 18 karat gold. The diamonds weigh a total of approximately .30 carats! This ring is a size 6.25 and it weighs 3.1 grams. The ring face measures 7.5 x 15.2 x 3 mm off the finger and the band width is 2.3 mm at the back. This darling ring has been fully hallmarked as it bears the crown mark for England, the gold mark, “18”, the leopard head mark for London, the date letter, “m”, and the maker’s mark, “T.E”.
This ring looks like a twist on the classic diamond ring many couples go for on their engagements. Of course, this ring has been around longer than most trends, making it a timeless piece, ready to be worn on her finger.

In a gown of lace and ivory she walked down an aisle bordered by mahogany pews, lined with the smiling faces of her friends and family. She held a bouquet of white roses accented with cranberries and evergreens. Her smile was mulberry and her bright green eyes were stuck on him, waiting for her at the front, just steps away. There was music, she was sure of it, but she was too nervous to hear it. Her ears were adorned in diamonds, something old and something borrowed. Her neck bore a strand of creamy white pearls which her mother had given her only moments ago. On her finger she wore his grandmothers diamond ring. It was hard to tell what part of her they were staring at, her joy, or her sparkle.
This gorgeous vintage white gold diamond ring was handcrafted around 1930; it holds an incredibly sparkly Old European cut diamond which measures 7 x 7 x 4 mm and weighs 1.02 carats, a VS2, J/K stone. My heart always gives a little flip when I see a beautiful Art Deco diamond ring like this one. It was a sleepy, rainy London afternoon and I was drinking too much coffee and trying to give each little gem that crossed my path it's fair due, when all I wanted to do was curl up and take a nap. Then, this lively ring jumped onto my hand and the sun cut through and these wonderful diamonds brightened up my whole day. So I brought it home just for you!
My grandmother would say that they are like 'hen's teeth', these fabulous Art Deco Filigree rings from around 1925-1930. Especially large ones like this, in this excellent condition. The center stone is a Old European cut diamond, one half carat in size, and extending the sparkle up and down the length of this ring are two other diamonds weighing just over .35 carats together.
Marked 18 KT inside the band for 18 karat gold, this white gold ring is very large both in style and in ring size. It is currently a size 9.75 and could be easily sized up or down. If you have long fingers or a larger hand, this is the ring you have been waiting for!! It is just stunning!

My second favorite thing about Paris? The pastry shops around every corner - pain au chocolat, if you please. My third favorite thing about Paris? The shopping, a quick skip down the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré. My first favorite thing about Paris? The jewelry.

When the gents in my life come knocking on my door looking for a ring to give their lady as the ‘first’ ring, the ring before ‘the’ ring, if you will, I always recommend a garnet. Garnets have a romantic nature, a long connection with romance and a classic style.

This ring is a size 9.5 and could be re-sized to suit, it weighs 2.6 grams.

I find the ruby to be a fascinating stone. Born in the heart of a volcano, some ancient cultures believed that they were imbued with internal fire upon their creation. More rare than their sapphire and emerald cousins, rubies have long been associated with Royalty and affairs of the heart.
This ring is set with three stunningly bright natural red rubies kissed with plum. All are quite clean and clear and intense. The rubies are round faceted stones and the center stone weighs about .4 carats while the two smaller rubies are about .2 carats each for a total weight of about .8 carats. In between each of the rubies are two old European cut diamonds for extra glitz and glamour. Each diamond is about .05 carats and very clean. The ring is marked with the hallmark indicating that it was made in Birmingham, England in 1930, it also bears the makers mark 'S.H.' and the number '22' indicating it is crafted in 22 karat gold. This ring is currently a size 7.5 but could be easily re-sized by a skilled jeweler. The ring weighs 3.9 grams.
A fantastic ring, this beauty would make a superb and very unusual engagement ring! A rare gem of a ring for a rare gem of a lady.

It’s like an apple, the reddest of the red sort, crisp and sweet with a touch of tart. But this is the sort of red you get to wear on your finger, like a crown. It’s the color of the center of a cherry blossom, the darkest of pink, and stunning in the light. It’s the color of rhubarb pie, dark and delightful. This sort of red is the translucent red of tourmaline, the rock that looks like a good wine. It goes fabulously with a glass of it, too.
This tourmaline and diamond ring has exceptional style and flair. It features a dark pink, almost red, oval faceted natural tourmaline which measures 14x11x7.3 mm and weighs 7 .06 carats. The center stone is held by four large prongs of platinum, each of which is set with a round faceted diamond, .1 carats in total. The ring face measures 20 mm north to south and 17 mm across and it sits 7.4 mm off the finger. This ring is marked inside the band with ‘585’ for 14 karat gold, it weighs 5.9 grams and is a size 7.5US.
I believe that this ring is Continental European in origin, I purchased it in Amsterdam. It was made around 1920.

This is the green of lucky shamrocks and the color of grass underfoot. It’s the shade of emeralds, and candy apple sweets; of perfectly ripe pears, and the mysterious elixir called absinthe. It’s like a spring afternoon, beneath the leaves of a maple tree. Wearing this ring is like being in a field full of tall wild prairie grasses, and you get to carry it around on your finger.
