I found this stunning girl in the markets of Paris. Her flowing, wavy hair adorned with a freshly picked flower, she sits in a pierced frame formed by the nature inspired silver work that is so quintessentially Art Nouveau. Given her superior craftsmanship I would have thought that she would be signed, but upon careful examination I found French assay marks, but no signature. The brooch is crafted in, and marked as 900 silver and measures 22.8mm x 21.4mm. It has a C clasp and an extended, hinged pin stem, and dates to about 1890-1900. The very epitome of Art Nouveau design and craftsmanship, this lovely French brooch weighs 2.4 grams.
In my humble opinion, antique brooches are highly underrated! They are the perfect accessory for any outfit and can be worn in oh so many ways. On the strap of a one-shouldered dress, used to hold a wonderful scarf in the perfect position, on a sweater, a blazer, even a hat; I can’t tell you how many time I’ve been delighted to find just the right beautiful brooch in my jewelry box for the occasion. Why not add this timeless Art Nouveau classic to yours!
*Please note that there is a very small dent on the front of this piece which cannot be repaired, but does little to detract from it's overall beauty.
