Victorian Sapphire Diamond Gentlemans Gypsy Ring 18k Gold
This is a manly ring. I mean, a woman could totally rock it, don’t get me wrong, it’s just that there is something especially manly about it. The thick, heavy gold shank perhaps? The diamonds that are demurely set but large enough to say ‘I am here!’. Or perhaps that rugged, handsome, denim colored sapphire at its heart. It almost smells like wood smoke and Old Spice. Almost.
This fantastic ring is a size 9.75 and was fully hand crafted in weighty 18 karat gold. Whoever this ring was made for was most certainly a man of some importance and wealth, it is showy, but in a manly, subtle way. The center stone in this ring is an oval faceted sapphire of rich, navy blue which measures 6.1x5.1x2.9 mm and weighs approximately .75 carats. The sapphire is flanked by two round, old European cut diamonds which measure about 4.7x3.2 mm each and weigh about 0.45 carats each for a total of 0.90 cttw in diamonds. The ring measures 9.8 mm north to south at the face and weighs 9.4 grams. There is a partial mark on the outside of the band at the back of the ring but I can’t quite make it out. Certainly this ring was made in about 1890 in Continental Europe.
