Victorian Gold Diamond Crop Bangle Bracelet Silver Set

$ 3,280.00

Diane Crump was the first female jockey to race in the Kentucky Derby. She ignored threats, hecklers and insults, all she wanted was to ride. She was just 21 years old when she made history in 1970 at Churchill Downs. She ignored the catcalls and boos and raced on Bridle ’N Bit to finish 10th out of 12, but she secured her place in history and opened the door for women in a sport that been previously limited to male riders.

This crop bangle bracelet was hand crafted in England in about 1880-90 with an exquisite eye to detail. The crop handle contains sparkling rose cut diamonds set in sterling silver and the rose gold crop body wraps around the wrist before terminating in a yellow gold rope at the whip end. The bangle measures 16.8 mm north to south at the widest point and narrows to 3.3 mm at the back. This wonderful bangle would fit a wrist up to 7 inches around comfortably. The bangle is unmarked but tests as 15 karat gold, it weighs 11.2 grams.

This beautiful piece was made many years before Diane Crump was even born, but I feel like she would have loved it. Perhaps it was made for someone of her spirit, a Victorian woman who just wanted to ride.
