Antique Victorian Enamel Mizpah Locket 9k Gold

Do you remember Stevie Wonder singing ‘I Just Called to Say I Love You’? He wasn’t calling because of the autumn breeze or falling leaves, not because it was New Years Day or he had chocolate covered candy hearts to give away. No, he was just calling to say I Love You. From the bottom of my heart. Just Love.

This Mizpah locket is a lot like that song. They didn’t have phones when it was made, though. You couldn’t just show up or text to let someone know you loved them. If you wanted to let them know, to let them know every hour of the day, all year round, like Stevie did, then you’d have to give them something that would let them know. This Mizpah locket was made to be such a thing. A thing to say I Love You.

Hand crafted in Victorian England in about 1880, this wonderful locket was done in 9 karat yellow gold and the front is embellished with blue and white enamel and the term ‘Mizpah’, from the bible this term means ‘May the Lord Watch between Thee and Me while we are Apart, One from Another’. This wonderfully sentimental locket measures 37.3 mm from north to south and 23.3 mm across, it is 9 mm thick and weighs 9.6 grams. It has two frames inside and bears no hallmarks, we’ve carefully acid tested it as 9 karat gold.

Tuck a photo of yourself inside, a lock of hair, a lucky clover. Doesn’t matter, it’ll still be there, saying I love you.
