I have a confession to make… I’ve never been a huge fan of aquamarines. Until now, that is. This amazing gemmy ring has made me do a one-eighty when it comes to how I feel about this stone. The color os a bright June sky, of Caribbean sea over white sand beaches, of a 1950 Ford Thunderbird. Yup, I’m a fan.
This amazing ring is set with a bright and brilliant step cut aquamarine of about 5.7 carats and a supporting cast of fourteen (14) Old European Cut diamonds that add up to about 2.54 carats in total weight. The stones are all of very high quality, very clean and clear, the aqua is a lovely deep color blue. The late Art Deco era ring is beautifully hand crafted in 18 karat yellow and white gold, and was made in about 1930 with older diamonds. The face of this ring measures 24.9 mm north to south and 18.8 mm across, it sits 8 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.8 mm at the back of the band. This size 6.75 ring weighs 9.7 grams. This ring is marked ‘18ct’ inside the band and has been carefully acid tested to verify this.
