Some lockets feel like they were made for keeping secrets; this one feels like it was made for keeping light. Its engraved face unfurls in a radiating sunburst, tiny waves etched with such care they seem to shimmer even in stillness, as if the gold itself remembers dawn. Above it, a petite flourish of scrollwork gives the piece a gentle Victorian lift, the sort of detail once meant to suggest refinement without a word. Worn against the skin, it becomes less a locket and more a little rising sun carried through the day.
Handcrafted in Birmingham in 1913, this round locket is made in 9 karat gold and fully hallmarked with “9,” “.375,” the Birmingham anchor, and the letter “O” for its year. Inside, the original interior surfaces remain intact and ready for photos. The piece measures 33.5 mm north to south including the top motif, 24 mm wide, and 3.3 mm deep, and it weighs 3.05 grams.
There is a warmth to this one, an optimism engraved right into it. It’s a piece for someone who still believes in carrying a little light with them, tucked close, where it matters.
