Handcrafted around 1860, the earrings are set with ten oval turquoise cabochons, each approximately 6 x 4 x 2.5 mm, for a combined weight of about 4.4 carats. Surrounding them are 68 old-cut diamonds totaling 1.4 carats: two at 3 mm, twelve at 2.4 mm, six at 1.7 mm, and forty-eight at 1.35 mm. The earrings measure 55 mm north to south, 19 mm across, and 6 mm deep, weighing 7.84 grams. While unmarked, they have been tested as consisting of 18 karat gold wires, 15 karat gold body and silver settings for the diamonds, typical of the period.
