The amethyst in this vintage ring is firmly the latter. Its broad, softly faceted surface catches the light in wide, glassy planes, revealing shades of lilac, rose, and dusky violet that feel almost liquid. Handcrafted around 1930, this ring is set in 18 karat gold and features a substantial amethyst weighing approximately 7.81 carats, measuring 13.5 x 11.5 x 7.3 millimeters. The ring is a US size 6.25. The top of the ring measures 14.3 millimeters north to south, 2.1 millimeters across, stands 7.6 millimeters off the finger, and the band measures 4.3 millimeters wide. It weighs 10.52 grams. A partial hallmark reading “75” remains, likely once “750,” suggesting 18 karat gold, and hinting at a long and well-lived history, possibly including a careful resizing along the way.
