It’s one of those things that includes a second glance. It’s addictive, in good way. It goes great with other addictive things; like good wine, stilettos, and chocolate that melts in your mouth. It looks like fire on your finger, and yet you won’t get burned.
This antique Edwardian opal and gold ring was handcrafted in Chester, England in 1905. This vibrant band holds five precious opals on the ring face, with each gem oval and cabochon cut and gradating in size down the shoulders. The largest opal measures 5.2 x 4 x 2.3 mm. This ring is a size 6.5 and weighs 3.0 grams. The ring face measures 7.7 x 8.2 x 4.4 mm off the finger with a band width of 2.6 mm. This piece is fully hallmarked and bears the crown mark for England, the gold purity mark, “18”, the wheat sheaves mark for Chester, and the letter date, “g”.
Opals are the birthstone of October but should be worn year-round, I mean, the Romans once believed that opals were the most powerful stone of them all.
