I arrived early in the morning at my friends shop in East London. He unlocked the door for me and I handed him a white tea with four sugars, he grinned. We spent the next several hours shooting the breeze and enjoying each others company as we delved into his cases and looked at fantastic jewels. I was just about to walk out the door, coat on, money exchanged, hugs given, when I spotted this ring in the corner of a case by the front door. Well, I just had to turn around and declare that our visit wasn’t yet done. This ring, this ring I simply had to have.

This lovely Diamond and Emerald cluster ring was hand crafted around 1960 in 18 karat gold and platinum. The ring is set with 8 transitional cut round diamonds which have a total carat weight of 1.1 carats around an Emerald cut Emerald of bright green which measures 5.5x4.1 mm and weighs about .8 carats. The ring is a size 8.25 but could be resized to suit (at no extra charge). It weighs 5.2 grams and is marked '18ct'. Most likely made in England. This ring would make a wonderful alternative to a traditional engagement ring.

She sat at the top of a cliff and caught her breath, her harness still dangling from her waist. The sun was just kissing the horizon and the light had turned a rich and buttery yellow. The sea below was a shocking shade of blue. He came and sat next to her and offered her a bottle of water. When she took it and went to turn the lid, she heard a clink and noticed a glint off the bottle. She tore her eyes from the ocean and looked down at the bottle, hanging around the neck was a ribbon and strung on the ribbon was a magnificent diamond ring. She looked at him and he shrugged and smiled.
“Shall we?” he asked.
“Yes.” she said, and grasped the hand he offered. “Yes, I think we shall.”
This perfectly fantastic European diamond solitaire ring is set with a 1.59 carat diamond in a band of buttery 18 karat yellow gold. The ring is beautifully hand crafted and the stone is the star of the show, held by a triple-split shank and golden prongs, this diamond measures 6.9 x 6.95 x 5 mm and is I color, VVS2-VS1 clarity. The diamond is an Old European mine cut stone which probably predates this ring a bit, it’s not subtle, but rather flashes with light and color with every move of the hand. The stone was hand cut, probably around 1850, the ring was made around 1890. This ring measures 7.92 mm north to south and sits 5.4 mm off the finger, it is a size 7 and weighs 2.3 grams. The ring has marks that have been lost to time and wear and tests as 18 karat gold. The ring has been appraised by a GIA master gemologist and is valued at $18,890 retail.

I've always thought of myself as a bit of a gypsy, I get restless when I've been in one place for too long. Maybe that's why I find myself so attracted to these gypsy set rings, with their wonderful smooth look and feel, I think they speak to the gypsy in my soul.
This fantastic 3 stone gypsy set ring has marvelous old cut diamonds with rich, lively fire. Hand crafted in about 1880, the stones are set in a hefty shank of 18 karat gold. This size 8 ring was probably made for a man, but would be equally impressive on a woman, the perfect ring for someone who uses their hands a lot and would love something with a low profile. The center stone measures 5.25x4.5x4 mm and weighs approximately .6 carats, the outer stones are about 3.5x3.3x2.8 mm and weigh .2 carats each for a total diamond weight of just about 1 carat. The ring measures 7.7 mm north to south and 18mm across, it sits 3.9 mm off the finger and it narrows to 4 mm at the back of the band. It is marked inside with ’18’ indicating the gold content and ‘W.S.’, an English makers mark, and it weighs 8.5 grams.
This wonderful ring would stack nicely with others but is impressive enough to be worn alone.
