Vintage Gold Diamond Solitaire Ring

$ 350.00

In ancient times, to test a diamond was very simple. Place the stone on an anvil and strike it with a hammer. If the stone broke, it wasn’t a diamond. The Romans believed diamonds were splinters of fallen stars. The Greeks believed diamonds were the tears of the gods. Some early civilizations believed that leaving a diamond uncut would preserve the stone’s magical properties. I’m not sure that cutting a diamond takes away its magical properties as this ring has be spell-bound.

This vintage solitaire diamond ring was handcrafted during the 1920’s in America. It’s an Art Deco piece crafted in 14 karat gold with the diamond set in 18 karat white gold. This is a simple ring with an old cut diamond at the center of a square ring face held up with shoulders featuring a scrolling motif. The diamond weighs approximately .21 carats and measures 3.6 x 3.6 x 2.6 mm. This ring is a size 4.5 and it weighs 1.6 grams. The ring face measures 6.8 x 9 x 5.4 mm off the finger and the band width is 2.4 mm at the back. It bears no marks and has been acid tested.

This ring would make for a wonderful engagement. It’s not too bold, it’s not too dainty, it’s just right.
