There’s a graceful energy to this antique Edwardian sapphire and diamond ring, as though the gold itself were in motion. Handcrafted in England and fully hallmarked in Birmingham in 1918, this antique five stone ring is made of solid 18 karat gold and bears the crown, “18,” Birmingham anchor, date letter “t,” and maker’s mark “SB&S LD.” It features three natural sapphires totaling approximately 0.25 carats, with the center sapphire measuring 3.5 x 2.7 x 2.1 mm (approximately 0.14 carats), accented by two diamonds measuring approximately 2.4 mm each, totaling approximately 0.10 carats. The ring measures 6.6 mm north to south, 19.5 mm across the face, and sits 3.2 mm off the finger, with a band width of 1.7 mm. It weighs 3.1 grams and is a US size 8.
