Handcrafted in about 1880, this ring is fashioned in 18 karat gold and centers on a natural oval opal weighing approximately 0.85 carats, measuring 11.5 x 6.5 x 2.7 millimeters. Surrounding the opal are 15 antique diamonds, each measuring approximately 2.5 x 2.5 x 2 millimeters, totaling approximately 1.2 carats. The ring face measures 16.5 millimeters north to south and 20 millimeters across east to west, and it rises 6.2 millimeters off the finger. The band measures 1.7 millimeters wide, and the ring weighs 3.7 grams. A partial hallmark remains visible. The setting features delicate prongs and a beautifully constructed gallery, allowing light to pass through and enliven both the opal and the diamonds.

It is the kind of ring that feels discovered rather than bought, as though it has waited patiently through decades for exactly the right hand to bring it back into the light.
