Set with two richly colored amethyst gemstones and thirty-six creamy seed pearls, this antique necklace was likely handcrafted in England around 1870. The pendant is made of 15 karat gold and suspended from an original seed pearl chain that measures approximately 15.5 inches around the neck. The drop pendant measures about 2.5 inches long and 25.8 millimeters across, and the necklace weighs 7.4 grams in total. The oval faceted amethyst measures approximately 5.8 by 7.7 by 4.3 millimeters and weighs about 1.02 carats, while the faceted teardrop amethyst measures roughly 7 by 11.5 by 5.2 millimeters and weighs about 2 carats. The reverse of the pendant is marked with the maker’s mark “SS” and stamped “15CT” for 15 karat gold.

Handcrafted with remarkable care, the pendant is further detailed with delicate white enamel looping motifs, a refined touch that enhances the overall design. There is a very small area of enamel loss on the upper right side, subtle and not readily noticeable to the naked eye, though visible in enlarged photographs.
