Like moonlight caught on the surface of water, three luminous pieces of mother of pearl glow softly across this lovely Victorian ring. Dating to around 1890, it pairs creamy iridescence with four tiny rose cut diamonds, nestled above and below the spaces between the larger settings. The mother of pearl reveals delicate ripples and shifting hints of pink and green, while the diamonds add little flashes of light.
Warm 18 karat gold claws frame the trio, and finely grooved shoulders draw the eye toward their lustrous surfaces. The central mother of pearl measures 6 by 6 by 2.1 millimeters, with the two flanking pieces each measuring 5 by 5 by 1 millimeters; the four rose cut diamonds measure approximately 1 millimeters each. The face of the ring measures 6.5 millimeters north to south and 17 millimeters across, rising 4.7 millimeters off the finger, with a band width of 1.8 millimeters at the back. A US size 7, it weighs 3.5 grams and bears no marks.
