Vintage 9k Gold Curb Link Bracelet Heart Lock Hallmarked 1975

$ 1,650.00

Who would have thought that the curb link would have such staying power? The earliest curb links were most likely parts of horse bits, the shape of the chain links helped to control the lever action of the bit. Jewelers were just known as metal-smiths back then and the same man who made your horse tack also made your wedding band, so I guess it’s no coincidence that the curb link chain worked its way into adornment at some point in time.

This curb link is a more contemporary version than I usually offer, but I was drawn to it’s stylized squared off links and it’s brightwork adorned lock that resembles the rays of the sun. The bracelet is 8 inches long and closes with a traditional curb link style clasp, the heart lock. The lock is most likely original to this bracelet and is fully marked with English hallmarks; they tell us that this bracelet was made in London, England in 1975 of 9 karat (375) gold, it also has a makers mark of ‘GJ Ld’. The links of this bracelet are 9.5 mm wide and 4.5 mm thick, they are hollow, the bracelet weighs 20.3 grams.

Alone or stacked, these bracelets are the casual throw on ones that you’ll end up grabbing for over and over, they work with any look, in any season.
