Bold and mysterious, this monumental brooch feels like it could have adorned the cloak of a Celtic heroine or an Arts and Crafts muse. A glowing rectangular cushion-cut sun warmed citrine sits at the center of a deeply domed silver disc, surrounded by applied silver beads and elegant scrollwork. The design is as much about light and line as it is about symbolism, balanced, stylized, and handmade with a deeply personal flair. On the reverse, a single word is engraved in a flowing hand: Catherine. Who she was, we don’t know. But she clearly mattered.
Likely made in England around 1900, this brooch speaks to the Arts & Crafts movement’s passion for handcraft and natural form. The citrine measures 15.5 x 18 x 8.5 mm and weighs an impressive 16.34 carats. The brooch itself measures 53.5 mm by 54.2 mm and is 15 mm deep, with a total weight of 23.69 grams. It is unmarked except for the engraved name 'Catherine' beautifully engraved on the reverse. Tests as sterling silver.
A brooch for someone who favors the epic, this is jewelry that tells a story in bold lines and deep glints of silver.
