This wonderfully simple frame locket houses a hand colored photograph of a pretty young woman. She reminds me of a photograph of my Grandmother from her high school yearbook which dates to just a few years after this pendant was made in 1909.
Hand crafted in England, which is where I purchased it, in 1909, this wonderful pendant is made of a simple 9 karat gold frame which is set with crystals front and back and a photograph and piece of fabric. The locket measures 34 mm north to south and 23.5 mm across, it is 5.7 mm thick. The piece is marked hallmarks of ‘9’ and ‘.375’ for 9 karat gold and the anchor for Birmingham, England, also with the k for the date 1909. It has a makers mark of ‘G.F.B’ and weighs 4.9 grams.
