People are sentimental, but perhaps no one these days is as sentimental of the Victorians. They loved love, and symbolism and intrigue. This might look like a simple locket to you, but to the Victorians its covering of Ivy leaves symbolized deep love; the phrase “I cling to thee” came from the way Ivy climbs buildings but was used as a sweet message of adoration.
Hand crafted in about 1890, this 9 karat locket in hand engraved front and back with leaves and swirls and a shield. This round locket has a rosy hue, it opens to reveal one framed and one frameless side to hold your photos, it opens easily and closes with a satisfying little snap. The locket measures 33.3 mm north to south and 25.6 mm across, it’s 5.5 mm thick and weighs 4.8 grams. This locket is unmarked and tests as 9 karat front and back.
