Some jewels feel like a page torn from a novel, the kind where a young woman keeps a letter tucked in her bodice, and a bird sings at the window just before the plot turns. This Victorian brooch, engraved with a small bird mid-flight among blossoming flowers, carries precisely that sense of tender anticipation. The scalloped border creates a frame-like reverence, as though nature herself were set behind glass for safekeeping.
Handcrafted in Birmingham in 1880, this hallmarked silver brooch bares the lion passant, the Birmingham anchor, and the date letter “f”, along with a partial maker’s mark ".G&Co." It measures approximately 22 mm north to south and 40 mm across, and weighs 4.55 grams.
Pin it to your coat and you’ll feel that small winged messenger faithfully perched, reminding you that good news is always on the way.
