He had a way with words and he certainly had the rights of this one. If you are suffering from this affliction called love, perhaps you might be in need of one of these. For as Shakespeare also said: ‘If thou dost love, my kindness shall incite thee, to bind our loves up in a holy band.’ This moi et toi (French for You and Me, also called a bypass) ring would be perfect for this, the diamonds, like lovers, wrapped around each other for all of eternity (or at least the past 110 years or so!).
This wonderful Edwardian era ring was most likely made in France in about 1905-1910. It is hand crafted in 18 karat gold and the diamonds are set in platinum. The two main diamonds are old chunky, hand cut old European cuts with lots of character, they are both 5x5 mm across, one is 3 mm deep and the the other is 2.7, their combined weighs is .9 carats with another .10 carats in melee for a total diamond weight in this ring of just about 1.00 carats. The ring measures 17 mm north to south and 7 mm across, it sits 5 mm off the finger and narrows to 1.5 mm at the back of the band. This ring is unmarked but has been carefully acid tested as 18 karat gold and platinum. The ring is a size 6.5 and shows signs of having been resized in the past, it could be sized to suit, it weighs 3.2 grams.
