Large Sterling Silver Victorian Locket Pendant Gold Accents

Sometimes they arrive looking quite stout and then they pull all of their little pouches out of their vests and inside coat pockets and you see that they are actually quite thin. Laden with jewels is how they arrive and so I always attempt to lighten the load. I was more than happy to do it the day that I found this fabulous locket, one of my very favorite things.

Silver jewelry like this locket was de rigor daywear in Victorian times. Often paired with a wide flat collar or book chain, a locket like this one would have felt at home in the upper echelons of society, it’s golden accents denoted it’s fineness and her status. This beauty was hand crafted in sterling silver in England in about 1890, it’s an oval shaped beauty; engraved flowers with bright golden tips and a frame of rosy golden curls. The locket measures 62.4 mm north to south and 34.8 mm across, it has two frames and weighs 21.6 grams. This wonderful piece has a luxurious weigh and feel and while unmarked, has been acid tested as sterling silver.
