A deep cornflower blue sapphire, oval and bezel-set, flanked by two brilliant-cut diamonds, glow from within a wide gold band. Made in France around 1940 by the legendary Mellerio dits Meller, this ring is crafted in rich 18 karat yellow gold and set with a 0.92 carat sapphire measuring 6.5 x 5.5 x 3.2 mm, framed by two round diamonds approximately 3 x 3 x 1 mm, total 0.12 ct. The band is substantial, measuring 9.4 mm north to south at the face and 22 mm across, with a depth of 3.3 mm and a 5.2 mm wide band. It weighs 8.61 grams and is a US size 8.25. Inside the band are the hallmark “44628,” and the maker’s mark “MELLERIO,”. 18 karat gold has been professionally tested.
