There’s a certain elegance that belongs only to the 1950s, with balance of structure and ease, the way a simple gesture could feel utterly modern. This ring by well known designer Niels Erik From ring speaks that language fluently. A smooth black onyx stands at center like a polished midnight window, held within curving lines of silver that fold and sweep around it. The open frame gives the stone room to breathe. It is minimalist, sculptural, and unmistakably Danish.
Handcrafted in Denmark around 1950, this ring is made in sterling silver and signed "N.E. FROM, STERLING, 925 S, and DANMARK." The closed-back oval onyx measures approximately 16.2 × 9 mm. The ring measures 25.2 mm north to south and 22 mm across, rising 7.3 mm off the finger, with a 7 mm band. It weighs 8.31 grams and fits a US size 8.
A study in form and shadow, this is an iconic piece of Danish modern design; it is quietly powerful, beautifully composed, and a joy to wear.
