I admit it freely, I'm a sucker for amethysts. Maybe it's because I'm a February girl, maybe it's because I've always thought of purple as a neutral, as possibly the best neutral. I found this ring in France, I really just had to have it, it's was far too yummy to pass up.
Hand crafted around 1950 in 18 karat white gold, this simple yet stunning ring is set with a large French Cut Amethyst gem of the richest purple color. The stone measures 10.9x10.7x8.1 mm and weighs about 5.8 carats. The face of this ring measures 12 mm north to south and 12 mm across it sits 8.8 mm off the finger, it narrows to 1.7 mm at the back of the band. The ring is a size 5 and a bit but could be resized somewhat to suit. The ring weighs 3.9 grams and is marked with ’18 ct’ inside of the band.
