Antique Gold Shield Fob Pendant Fattorini & Sons, Birmingham 1914

Once a keepsake of triumph, this gold fob has become something softer, an emblem of quiet strength and endurance. Its openwork frame is finely hand-engraved with scrolling leaves and chevrons, encircling a gently domed central shield polished to a mirror sheen. Time has lent the gold a warmth, the kind that only a century can create.
Handcrafted in Birmingham in 1914 by Fattorini & Sons of Bradford, this pendant is made of 9 karat gold and bears full hallmarks: "9", “.375,” Birmingham anchor, date letter “P” for 1914, and maker’s mark “F & S.” Additional marks include "FATTORINI & SONS" and "BRADFORD". It measures 33.7 mm north to south including the bale, 26.1 mm across, and 4.3 mm thick, with a total weight of 7.2 grams. The chain shown is for display only.
A lovely piece of history, refined yet unpretentious, and just as fitting today as it was over a century ago.
