There’s a quiet confidence to this antique Victorian ruby and diamond ring, the kind that comes from having already lived a full life. Three antique diamonds and two rosy rubies are set across a softly domed 15 karat gold face, framed by beautifully carved scroll shoulders that feel distinctly late Victorian, bold, romantic, and unapologetically decorative. The gold glows with that deep honeyed warmth only age can give, while the stones sit low and close, made for everyday wear rather than display cases. This antique English ruby diamond ring feels like a jewel that once marked something meaningful, a promise made, a chapter begun.
Handcrafted in England in 1897, this Victorian five stone ring is made of rich 15 karat gold and fully hallmarked with “15,” “.625,” the Birmingham anchor, and date letter “x” for 1897, along with a partial maker’s mark reading “.BROS.” It features three natural diamonds totaling approximately .09 carats, measuring approximately .05, .02, and .02 carats, accented by two rubies totaling approximately .06 carats, each ruby measuring about 2 x 2 x 1 millimeters. The ring measures 7.7 millimeters north to south, 18.5 millimeters across the face, sits 1.6 millimeters off the finger, and tapers to a 3.7 millimeter band width. It weighs 3.4 grams and is a US size 6.25.
What makes this antique Victorian ruby diamond ring so special is its balance of strength and sentiment, ornate without being fussy, romantic without being fragile. It wears beautifully on its own, stacks effortlessly with other antique bands, or pairs perfectly with a Victorian engagement ring. A true survivor of nineteenth century England, this five stone ruby diamond ring invites you to wonder who wore it first, and reminds you that some stories are simply waiting to continue.
