Antique Silver Gilt Opal Necklace

She just wanted to do whatever. So she put on her baggy jeans, favorite t-shirt, and opal necklace. Comfy. Cute. She spent the morning finishing a Kerouac novel in her bright blue bean bag chair. For lunch, she dined on vanilla ice cream with sprinkles and sipped on black coffee. She read the paper, then walked about town. She popped in at the local coffee shop and ordered a double espresso while making eyes at the cute barista. She bought herself flowers and a vase to go with them. She strolled through the park, smelling her daisies, watching the birds, listening to the pond, chatting with strangers. It was well after dark before she went back home. She stopped at looked in the mirror that hung in her entry way. She was smiling, grinning ear to ear, holding a bouquet, wearing her favorite necklace. She was content.

This beautiful antique silver gilt and opal necklace was handcrafted around 1900. It is 16 inches in length and weighs 13.7 grams. This darling necklace features six precious opals displayed at the front with each measuring approximately 7.5 x 5.5 mm. It’s an elegant design held together with the extra help of a safety chain. The main feature measures 36 x 28.7 x 6.5 mm. There are no marks and it has been acid tested.

There’s something about opals. Maybe it’s their play of color. Maybe it’s their likeness to fireworks. Either way, they sure look fabulous on a necklace of silver gilt, preferably wrapped around your neck, and paired with some cute shoes.
