Large Victorian Silver Engraved Cross Pendant Ivy Leaves
The luminosity of the candles lining every open space of the church shimmered across her silver cross. Delicate flashes of light bounced off the shining pendant and coruscated onto the walls and through the windows. The space was scented with lilies and alive with the colors of ladies’ Sunday dresses.
This Victorian silver cross was handcrafted in England around 1880. This lovely antique cross is engraved with ivy leaves up and down the front surface adding a mood of elegance and sophistication. The ivy leaf motif in Victorian England translated as “I cling to thee” and was used for faith and God as much as for other people. This large cross has been acid tested. It measures 85 mm long, 42.4mm across, and 7 mm thick. It weighs 21 grams.
This understated piece of jewelry expresses a humble glamour. It’s a necessity for every Christian’s jewelry box. This faithful token would look marvelous on your favorite silver chain, or as a First Communion gift!
