Antique Arts & Crafts Sybil Dunlop Chalcedony Moonstone Brooch

$ 1,340.00

A breath of moonlight caught in silver, this brooch feels like a fragment of an old tale, passed down from a time when jewelry was both adornment and amulet. Attributed to Sybil Dunlop and likely crafted around 1910, its dreamlike palette of pale moonstone, lapis blue, and the soft, foggy glow of chalcedony speaks to the quiet mysticism of the Arts and Crafts movement. Every curve and swirl feels deliberate, composed with a hand attuned to natural forms and celestial light.

Handmade in England, this silver brooch features four luminous moonstone cabochons ranging from 5 to 9 mm, a central chalcedony cabochon measuring 9.5 x 4.5 mm, and three rich lapis lazuli rounds, two at 3 mm and one at 3.5 mm. Delicate silverwork surrounds the stones with spirals, beads, and polished settings all arranged in perfect harmony. The piece measures 75 mm long, 22 mm wide, and 18 mm deep, with a weight of 9.33 grams. Though unmarked, its construction, materials, and design are consistent with the work of Sybil Dunlop’s studio.

This is more than a brooch, it’s a spell woven in silver, made to rest against the heart and catch the eye of anyone who still believes in the beauty of the handmade.
