There is something wonderfully romantic about an old locket, made to carry a photograph or tiny keepsake close to the heart. This beautiful round example dates to about 1910 and is decorated with delicate, scrolling floral engraving that sweeps across the softly textured gold. Tucked among the engraving are three small triangular rubies, their rich red color a striking little accent against the warmth of the gold. A finely engraved border finishes the design.

Handcrafted in around 1910 this locket is made of warm 14 karat gold and features three rich rubies. Each of the three rubies measures approximately 2.5 millimeters by 2.5 millimeters and 1.5 millimeters deep. The locket measures 40.3 millimeters from top to bottom including the bail, 30.5 millimeters across and 5 millimeters deep. It weighs 6.6 grams. There is a difficult to decipher mark on the bail which appears to read “14k”; the gold has been tested and confirmed as 14 karat.

The locket opens to reveal space inside for a photograph or memento and has a lovely slim profile that makes it very wearable despite its generous size.
