Some jewels feel like signposts from another lifetime, and this extraordinary antique Georgian ring is one of them. It looks as though it once belonged to someone who attended masked balls by candlelight and kept love letters tied with silk ribbon. Its face is a deep, impossible blue, the rich cobalt Bristol glass domed like a miniature pond at midnight. Floating at its center is a tiny silver urn set with diamonds, a motif drawn directly from mid-eighteenth-century sentimental symbolism, representing remembrance, devotion, and enduring love. The old-cut diamonds flicker like sparks caught beneath the glass, each one sealed in place as if preserved untouched for centuries.

Handcrafted around 1750, this remarkable Georgian marquise ring is set in 15 karat gold and built around a large marquise-shaped Bristol glass plaque measuring approximately 37 millimeters north to south, 21.5 millimeters across, and 5 millimeters deep. At the center sits a closed-back diamond measuring about 4.5 by 3.6 millimeters, surrounded by twenty-five rose-cut diamonds ranging from approximately 1 to 1.35 millimeters each. The ring’s overall dimensions are approximately 40 millimeters north to south, 25.3 millimeters across, and 9 millimeters in height. The band measures 6.7 millimeters wide, the ring weighs 13.45 grams, is unmarked, and has been professionally tested. It is a US size 9.

Some antique rings are worn, some are kept, and then there are rare Georgian jewels like this one that feel as though they keep you. It carries the weight of history and the poetry of a time when jewelry was deeply symbolic and intensely personal. This Bristol glass and diamond ring folds its wearer into a story far older, richer, and more romantic than anything modern life typically allows, making it a true collector’s piece from the Georgian era.
