This petite Egyptian Revival pendant, born in the years when Art Deco travelers were crossing oceans with steamer trunks and sketchbooks, carries that same sense of wonder. The Sphinx watches from its turquoise-blue sky, the great pyramid rising behind it, all framed by a mosaic of Deco color: cobalt, lime, brick red, and soft sky enamel. It looks like something picked up at a Cairo market after a sunrise visit to Giza, tucked away for safekeeping, and cherished ever since.

Handcrafted in about 1925, this round pendant is made in 800 silver and measures 29.8 mm tall including the bail, 22.9 mm across, and 1.4 mm thick. It weighs 4.04 grams and is hallmarked “800” on the reverse. The enamel shows wonderful surviving color, and the chain shown is for display only.

Wear it as a charm of curiosity, of faraway places, of stories waiting to be told. It’s a little reminder that adventure is often no more than an open door, or an open suitcase, away.
