The Arts & Crafts movement was born out of a rejection to the industrial revolution. Artists felt that the mechanization of creating daily objects detracted from the enjoyment of daily life. Furniture, household items, even jewelry, once made completely by hand, were now being machined and assembly lined, destroying the unique nature of handcrafted goods. Much of the jewelry done in the Arts and Crafts style was done in silver, using gems that were inexpensive and easily sourced, much like this silver and quartz ring. The aesthetic wasn’t a specific style but more of an idea. It called for simple form, clean lines, personal fulfillment, and of course, it was hand-made.
This antique Arts & Crafts silver and pink quartz ring was handcrafted around 1900. This fantastic piece features a pink oval cabochon cut quartz at the center of a silver leaf motif that makes up the setting and the shoulders. The ring face measures 25.4 x 21.3 x 10.5 mm off the finger. Overall, This piece weighs 8.3 grams. This statement ring is a size 7.5 and is marked, “SILVER”.
A ring for your troubles, for your cares, for your favorite outfit, and most certainly for your least favorite outfit.
