Three bright diamonds, each with a fire that dances differently in the light, set side by side in a classic trilogy design. To the Edwardians, three stones represented the story of a love: past, present, and future. The open claw setting lifts the gems high, letting them flash with every movement, while the clean platinum shoulders give the ring an elegant and timeless balance.

Handcrafted in about 1920, this ring is set with three old European cut diamonds totaling .84 carats: the center stone measures 4.6 x 4.6 x 2.6 mm, flanked by two side stones 4.2 x 4.2 x 2.3 mm and 4 x 4 x 2.3 mm. The ring’s overall face measures 4.8 mm north to south, 13.2 mm across, and rises 4.8 mm off the finger, with a band width of 1.3 mm at the back. It weighs 1.91 grams and is hallmarked inside the shank with “FINE PLAT” and “18CT.” The ring is a US size 6.25. I think that this ring was originally made in 18 karat yellow gold with a platinum mounting, but it has been plated to appear all white, most likely with palladium.

A jewel like this carries a story in its very design, a symbol of commitment nearly unchanged in meaning for over a century. It remains as dazzling today as it was when it first slipped onto a hand one hundred years ago.
