There is something deeply romantic about a ring like this, the kind exchanged in quiet certainty rather than grand display. The rich red rubies glow from within their golden cradle, their color deep and alive, like embers held safely against time. Set low and close to the finger in that unmistakable boat-shaped form, it feels both intimate and enduring, a piece meant to be worn every day, gathering its own stories as it goes.
Crafted in Birmingham in 1886, this 18 karat gold ring is a size 7.75 US and is set with five natural rubies totaling approximately .52 carats. Three central stones measure 3.6 x 2.5 x 1.7 millimeters, with the remaining stones measuring 2.8 x 2.8 x 1.6 millimeters and 2.7 x 2.3 x 1.4 millimeters. The face of the ring measures 7 millimeters north to south and 18 millimeters across, standing 2 millimeters off the hand, with a band width of 2.3 millimeters. It weighs 2.6 grams and is fully hallmarked with "18," ".625," the Birmingham anchor, and the date letter "m" for 1886, along with engraved script initials "CS."
It is easy to imagine this ring marking a moment that mattered, and even now, more than a century later, it carries that same quiet sense of devotion, ready to become part of someone else's story.
