Made in Birmingham and hallmarked for 1880, this sterling silver locket bears the lion passant, the Birmingham anchor, the date letter “f,” and the maker’s mark “CE FD.” It measures 58.5 mm north to south, 34.2 mm across and 6.8 mm deep and weighs 15.7 grams. The interior opens to reveal two compartments, one still holding an original Victorian portrait of a young woman whose necklace mirrors the locket she is preserved within.
