This is one of my personal favorites; I just love to see this kind of hand craftsmanship and detail. Starting in the mid 19th century in England, craftsman began a backlash against the industrial revolution and the mechanization of production by returning to hand-craftsmanship. This piece is an excellent example of this return.
Wonderfully hand crafted, it showcases five aged and variegated cabochons of turquoise hanging inside its delicately detailed frame. This pendant dates to about 1900 and is made in sterling silver which has been washed in gold, or gilded. The largest turquoise measures 13.6x10x4, the pendant overall measures 58.5 mm north to south and 25 mm across, it’s 5.1 mm deep and weighs 2.5 grams. This pendant is marked on the top jump ring with ‘925’. Chain not included.
