Do you remember that red sequined dress that Kate Capshaw wore in 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom'? You know the one, right? They were in Club Obi Wan (get it?) in Shanghai; Indy in that fabulous white tux and Willie Scott in that slinky red dress with the gold sequins and mandarin collar. Don't you think that this ring would have been perfect for that scene? It would be brilliant with that dress. Not that it doesn't feel right at home with jeans and a tee shirt, mind you!
An oval cabochon cut ruby of the most utterly fantastic blood red is the star of this show. This ruby measures 8.1 mm across and 6.75 mm north to south and is 4.44 mm deep for an estimated weight of 2.62 carats. This natural stone is the most gorgeous color. It is set into a 22 karat gold mounting with four prongs and the mount sparkles and glows with even the slightest movement as it set with 36 brilliant cut diamonds that add up to about 1.26 carats in total diamond weight, the diamonds are E-G in color and VS1-I1. The ring is inscribed inside the band with the date: "15.1.75", European for the 15th of January, 1975. The face of the ring is 8.5 mm from north to south and sits 8.3 mm off the finger, it tapers to 2.8 mm at the back of the band. This ring is a size 7 and could be re-sized somewhat to suit, it weighs 6.5 grams. It is unmarked (other than the inscription) and has been acid tested to verify that it is 22 karat gold.
This ring might not get you Harrison Ford, but Indy, well, that's a different story altogether.

I simply could not resist the amazing style of this phenomenal 1960s bracelet! To be honest, I didn't even really try. It is just so beautifully made that I at first mistook it for a much earlier piece. Each plaque is hand crafted and shows a great degree of skill and an eye for style that brings to mind the designs of the cosmos. Each is set with a glowing round cabochon opal and two bright fuchsia rubies, like little ringed planets circling in their own orbits.
The panels are hand crafted of glowing yellow 9 karat gold in a fabulous sort of undulating shape, and each has fantastic details, including a full back frame to hold the bracelet up off of the wrist for an optimal play of light when it's worn. Each plaque is marked with a '9' and '375' for 9 karat gold and it also bears hallmarks indicating that it was made in London in 1969. It weighs 26.8 grams and measures 8 inches long. The plaques are 17 mm long each and 17.7 mm wide and it sits 6.5 mm off the wrist. Each of the 10 opals are 0.14 carat each for a total weight of 1.4 carats. The 20 rubies add up to about .40 carats total.
This is the kind of fantastic vintage jewel that can be worn so easily, that it can go from Barbecue to Black Tie!!

The Art Deco style was all about sparkle, all about contrast, they loved to play bright orange against black, loved angular lines, chevrons, patterns, and colors derived from ancient Egypt abounded. This fantastic Art Deco era ring is a perfect example.
The center of this ring is an eye-popping round polished bead of bright orange/red coral, the chevron and half round designs around it are set with bright, sparkling, faceted marcasite gems. The ring measures 22 mm north to south and 19.4 mm across, the coral bead is 7.5 mm across and 6 mm high. The ring is handcrafted in sterling silver and marked '925' on the back of the band. I'm not exact on the origin of this ring, continental European, most likely. It was certainly made around 1925-1930. The ring is a size 5.5 and could be resized to suit, it weighs 3.7 grams.

Sometimes I pick up a piece or two on a whim. Here’s such a piece, I just plain old liked it; it has style, panache even. It’s vintage, probably from the late '70s or early '80s, and has that kind of gold-belted Saturday Night Fever sort of appeal. The richness of the smooth gold links contrasts perfectly with the disco ball sparkles of the diamond center.
This handcrafted eternity ring is set with about .4 carats of modern round brilliant diamonds and is fully hallmarked. The marks indicate that it was made in England’s jewelry center of Birmingham after 1972 of ‘750’ or 18 karat gold. This beauty is 6 mm wide and is a size 5 US, it would not be easy to resize. It weighs 5.3 grams.
This band has a great feel on the hand and would play nicely with a thinner eternity band (or 2) or with a diamond solitaire. It would make a great wedding or anniversary band.
